S.l.o.w presence- inner chaplaincy

retreat

During my zen chaplaincy program with Upaya Zen Center, I spent the first year cultivating a holistic presence towards my inner world, called inner chaplaincy. The idea is to bring a self-stewardship to one’s weary heart, before being a steward for others. Inner chaplaincy is a practice of self-stewardship.

Dr. Cynda Rushton describes self-stewardship as an invitation to prioritize the resources our body, mind, and soul seek when engaging in ethical challenges. Self-stewardship is beyond caring for oneself. It is a slow process of cultivating nourishing ethical integrity even when we experience burnout and veer away from our roles of care and responsibility.

S.L.O.W presence-inner chaplaincy is a self-stewardship work. it is for those who identify as women and are seeking supportive somatic presence to reenter, reclaim, and rebuild their presence in the world. This service may be suitable for those in roles such as educators, community health educators/ workers, chaplains, caregivers, etc. This can be offered both in small groups as well as individually.
