  • Learn and integrate community-centered and traditional ways of caring for self.

Description

Working with people who experience trauma depletes one’s self-resilience, compassion, and care. Eventually, a lack of attention to this debilitating experience may impact one’s well-being. Resiliency is the nervous system’s capacity to create a container that holds compassion, care, or simply presence for one another. However, when the container gets emptied or gets empty, it shows warning signs of depletion, burnout, stress, and a serious impact on physical health. To sustain that container a daily intentional practice of self-resilence, reverence, stewardship, and inner work is essential. These practices can be slowly explored and implemented individually and eventually support collective healing-centered workspaces that are person-centered and culturally responsive.

SLOW stands for Sensations, Longing, Openmindedness, and Wonderment. We will engage in practices and skills to learn how SLOW can support cultivating a holistic presence. This workshop is practice, reflection, and discussion-based.
